coyotex

Coyotex is the difference between excellence and perfection.
Coyotex produces Carbon Fiber Spread Tow fabrics, which are as individual, diverse and unique as the applications and products of our customers. The right amount of fibres in the right orientation in the right contour in the right intention in small and large quantities, that is Coyotex.

MAXIMUM FREEDOM

Maximum freedom of design

We believe that optimally designed and intelligently produced CFRP components can be an economically attractive, lightweight alternative to construction methods using steel or aluminum…

…Guided by this belief, we have developed a completely new production process that allows us to manufacture the best-possible carbon fiber preforms in a way that is customized, economical and exactly meets the requirements of each customer’s component.

While developing this process, we asked ourselves this question: Just how much freedom does a component designer need to design an optimal, lightweight fiber-appropriate CFRP component? Here’s our answer:

  • You can design the external and internal contours however you like.
  • You can orient the fibers on each individual layer however you like.
  • You can choose to have anywhere between two and (currently) 20 layers.
  • You can choose an order volume as small as one or as big as thousands.
  • You can define and order your customized preforms on our website with just a few clicks of a mouse.

… and even more ways to enjoy freedom of design are already in the pipeline.

MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE

What’s in it for you?

Maximized component performance:

  • Your product will have better performance properties at the same weight because you can orient the fibers according to the load and because the fibers are optimally stretched.

Minimized component weight:

  • You reduce your component’s weight because you can orientate fibers according to the load and therefore need fewer fibers.
  • Since the fibers in our coyotex stacks are perfectly stretched, they can achieve their full mechanical potential in the component. There are no annoying sewing threads or stabilization mesh that reduce the inherent mechanical potential of the fibers.

Minimized costs:

  • You don’t need to buy the material that would ultimately end up as offcut anyway because our products are “near net shape,” meaning very close to the shape of the final product.
  • You save costs for cutting and stacking material, as our production process does that for you automatically.

MAXIMUM PRECISION

Geometry approximation

Our production technology allows us to produce your individual shape with an accuracy of up to a few millimeters. We discretize your individual contour with a standardized, square grid of 22 x 22 mm. Doing so allows us to minimize the production-related overlap of our fabric in relation to your shape.

Fiber orientation

The fiber orientation can be defined individually for each layer separately in full-degree steps.

Number of layers

To date, we have manufactured preforms of up to 20 layers. If you happen to need more than 20 layers, let’s talk about it. After all, our motto is “outsmart the limits”!

Fabric weight

A single layer of coyotex preform has a grammage of 150 – 155 g/m2, depending on the fiber used. For production reasons, each layer contains 5 – 10 g/m2 epoxy resin-compatible binder.

Fiber characteristics

According to manufacturer specifications, the fibers used to make coyotex preforms have a tensile elasticity modulus of 255 GPa, a tensile strength of 4,400 MPa, and an elongation at break of 1.65%.

    Q&A

If you have any questions regarding our product, please feel free to submit them in the box below.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

When is your product available and where can I get it?
At the JEC World 2018 we introduced our produc. Since then testing samples and stacks up to 425 x 425 mm are available. We will start to supply customers with in Q2/2019 with our full scale production (see below).
You can order your individual textile at our online store on our website.

What ist the difference between your product and a standard NCF-textile?
The comparative difference to NCF is that our product is fully tailorable to your requirements, including orders as small as one piece.
Our product is produced and delivered near net shape. We use one fiber type and one standard grammage (155g/m2) per stack layer. This will be the future standard of NCF 😉
155g/m2 is the best compromise between ultimate design freedom and minimized costs.

      What does it cost?
Because we produce and deliver near net shape you will have a cost saving between 20% to 40% in comparison to NCF. 20% to 40% is the typical cut-off-waste you generate when you work with NCF.

The price is calculated individually based on your input during your orderering process. It will always be the ‘best price’ and this depends on three factors:
1.) The amount of carbon fibers in your product
2.) The space utilization of your product on our production machine
      3.) The volume you order
For example: if you order a square frame and a filled square of the same size they utilize the same production space and the difference in price is only caused by the different amounts of fibers needed for the two products.
